• What is a Thunderbolt Port?

The Thunderbolt Port on all of the new Macbook Airs, MacBook Pros and iMac’s which are Thunderbolt Capable are shared with the primary display port. The connector used is identical to the previous Mac-Only Mini-DisplayPort port.

The upside of this is that old monitors then become compatible with the updated computers and therefore the ports, the downside of course is that you’ll need to do what’s commonly referred to as ‘Daisy Chaining’ devices, meaning that one device can connect to another, and that to another and so on. The maximum number of devices that you can daisy chain together in the spec is seven, but keep in mind the interface on your PC is limited to 10 Gigabits per Second, which will need to be shared among all of the connected devices.
